The National Institute of Metrology, Standardization and IndustrialQuality (INMETRO) is a Brazilian federal autarchy, linked to MDIC, the Ministryof Development, Industry and Foreign Trade.
In Brazil, certification bodies must be accredited by INMETRO.Electrical and electronic products that meet Brazilian requirements and thatare certified by an INMETRO accredited organization must carry the mandatoryINMETRO mark along with the mark of the certification organization, such asUCIEE (Uni?oCertificadora para o Controle da Conformidade de Produtos,ProcessosouServi?os).
The application of INMETRO logo can be divided into two categories:compulsory and voluntary, which are certified by the Certification Authority(CB). In addition, the Brazilian government also requires some products tocarry energy efficiency labels (smiling face labels), such as INMETRO issued adirect certificate, certification agencies do not participate.

In the INMETRO certification, the most widely used certificationmode is the international general certification mode 5, which includes thetesting of the product itself and the audit of the factory quality managementsystem.
